Suffolk County Volleyball Coaches Association Varsity Awards Dinner

On December 2nd, the Girls Volleyball team capped off another outstanding season with the Suffolk County Volleyball Coaches Association Varsity Awards Dinner held at The East Winds.

Six Bay Shore Volleyball players were honored that night including:

Asia Stewart – Exceptional Senior (highest GPA/best resume in Suffolk County), All-County Academic, All-League Miranda Hogan – All-County Carly Cox- All-Conference Mary Posillico – All-County Academic (top 12 GPAs in Suffolk County) Elisabeth Yack – All-County Tournament Team Alex Russo – All-League

Congratulations to these players and their families on a beautiful evening.

Season Results

- The Girls Volleyball team won their last regular season match against Sachem North 3-1 Monday night, October 28th. It was a great last HOME match for our 5 amazing seniors Carly Cox, Asia Stewart, Mary Posillico, Allie McNulty & Erica Silhan. These ladies were honored with flowers, speeches, and the respect and adoration from their family, friends and coaches. They will be greatly missed by BS high school!

The first round of play-offs will be October 31st at 5pm for the girls volleyball program.

- The Girls Volleyball team had a GREAT week as they defeated the #1 team in League One - Sachem East 3-0 Friday night! Sophomore Alex Russo was on fire with 22 digs! Junior Annie Cosgrave put up a wall that night with 10 solo blocks! Wednesday evening the girls defeated the #2 team in League Two - Lindenhurst - 3-0 as well! With play-offs around the corner, it is an AWESOME time for the girls to start peaking!

- The Girls Volleyball team defeated Lindenhurst Wednesday night 3-0! Asia Stewart's serves were red hot as she recorded 19 serves/points with 9 aces! Carly Cox played her best match ever with 17 digs, 7 kills and 3 aces! These two girls were "The Red Hot Players of the match!" Erica Silhan was invincible at the net with 10 solo blocks!

- The Girls Varsity Volleyball team improved their record to 4-3 with a win over Walt Whitman Tuesday evening 3-1. Our two middles Annie Cosgrave and Erica Silhan were on fire with 10 kills each! Erica was a WALL with 6 blocks, while Annie contributed 3 solo blocks. The two "tallies" gathered 29 points for BS Volleyball - making them the "Red Hot Players of the Match!" Carly Cox also had ANOTHER outstanding match with 28 digs, 8 kills, 6 aces, 3 assists and a block. Carly was responsible for serving 20 points in all 4 games without a single serving error! Come out and support the team as they face Connetquot (League II - 1st place team) on Thursday evening at 5:45!

- The girls volleyball team defeated Northport Monday night in 3 straight games. Carly Cox was on fire with 22 digs, 13 kills, 5 aces and 3 blocks. Miranda Hogan was unstoppable with 30 assists, 12 digs, 5 kills an ace and a block. These two girls were the "Red Hot Players of the Match!" Erica Silhan's 9 solo blocks absolutely shocked Northport! She had a solid game as well!

- The Girls Varsity VB team won a hard fought, nail biter against Half Hollow Hills East in five thrilling games! Miranda Hogan led the way with 36 assists, 15 digs, 6 kills, 2 aces and a block. Carly Cox was on fire with 25 digs and 17 kills. Sophomore Alex Russo was the "Red Hot Player of the Match" because of 3 awesome aces in the deciding game! She also had 19 digs! Finally, Erica Silhan came up big with 12 kills and 5 solo blocks! It was an awesome match!

- The Girls Volleyball program had a rough week with two losses to powerhouses Connetquot and Lindenhurst. Despite the loss, Carly Cox was amazing against Connetquot with 14 kills, 6 digs, 3 assists and 3 aces. She was named Player of the Game. Asia Stewart added 8 crushing kills in that match.

- Against Lindenhurst, our new transfer student Elizabeth Yack had an awesome match with 10 digs, 7 kills, an ace and an assist. Erica Silhan showed off her sick vertical with 5 solo blocks. These two were Co-Players of the Match! Come out and support Girls Volleyball as they play Kellenberg on Friday.

- Bay Shore won it's first match against Walt Whitman on Thursday, September 12th in 3 straight games. Scores were 25-19, 25-14, 25-20. Highlights include: Miranda Hogan had 17 assists, 9 digs, 4 kills and an ace. Carly Cox had 9 digs, 8 kills, and 6 aces. Alex Russo had12 digs, 3 aces, and 2 kills. These 3 girls were "Red Hot Player of the Game."
